eyes, ears and voice of the union in the workplace. They are often able to correct
problems on the spot through their rapport with supervisors.

- Insurance - You
have a choice of HMO's, such as Pacificare, Kaiser, or individualized indemnity programs.
Maternity coverage, emergency care and coverage for major medical are provided. Claims are
processed by the union's Insurance Department and paid out of our union's trust funds.

- Political Affairs - Because the union is
an important institution in our society at large, it has an obligation to contribute to
the community as a decent and active "citizen". Accordingly, President George L.
Hartwell created the Community Action Program (CAP), which has been functioning since
early 1994.
